2008 Kawasaki Concours™ 14 ~ 1400GTR Wins “Motorcycle of the Year”

Each year the Affinity Powersports Media Awards recognizes manufacturers for excellence in product advancement, innovation, market appeal and competition potential. The 2008 Kawasaki Concours™ 14 surpassed all expectations by earning two category-leading awards for 2008, “Best Sport-Touring Bike” and “Motorcycle of the Year.” Here is what Affinity Powersports Media and the editors at Rider magazine had to say about the all-new Concours 14: ~ 1400GTR

“We’re focused on performance, handling and comfort first here at Rider, along with value, reliability and practicality. This stylish sport-tourer pegs the meter in all of those areas, and has an impressive list of standard features that are both fun and useful...”
“Based on the awesome Ninja® ZX™-14 sportbike, the all-new C14 ~ 1400GTR has a decidedly sporty side, yet is not just a ZX-14 with higher handlebars.”

“Purpose-built for long-distance travel in comfort, it just happens to have the braking and power of Kawasaki’s largest sportbike.”
“Add big functional saddlebags and an electric windscreen, and the Concours 14 ~ 1400GTR
made a lightning fast ride to Best-of-Class.”

“For 2008 every one is a formidable bike worthy of recognition, which of course made the choice extremely difficult. There can only be one MOTY, though, and for 2008 the winner is... the Kawasaki Concours 14!” ~1400GTR

Jet Ski World Wins Summerset 400 Enduro on
Kawasaki Ultra 250X

Jet Ski World Kawasaki Race Team riders, Denny Moran and Christian DaGostin, raced their Dealership prepared Kawasaki Ultra 250X Jet Ski to an outright win and class win at the first ever Summerset 400 Enduro at Summerset, NSW, on 21-22 June.

The inaugural Summerset 400 Enduro is a 400 Kilometre race spread over 2 days, making it the longest Jet Ski race ever held in Australia and the second longest in the world behind the USA’s Hahn Memorial Race. The long race proved the perfect platform for the Ultra 250X to shine, with the Kawasaki Model claiming the outright and Stock class wins convincingly.

Jet Ski World Kawasaki Race Team manager, John Moyle, was extremely happy with the result, saying, “This is fantastic for the Dealership, the riders, and Kawasaki. To win this inaugural long distance race so convincingly on board Kawasaki is something we’re very proud of.

The Ultra 250X was also extremely fast, averaging 101 KM/H over the 4 hour enduro. Our victory comes down to a combination of a brilliant team, talented riders and fantastic Jet Ski.”

Jet Ski World Kawasaki Race Team are confident of success at their next
event, the Winter Nats Challenge at Redcliffe, QLD, on 20 July.

Motorcycle and Scooter Ride To Work Day is Wednesday, July 16, 2008

Press Release Issued By Ride to Work (May 21, 2008)

In the USA they are holding their seventeenth annual motorcycle and scooter commuting demonstration will increase the number of riders on the road, according to Ride to Work, a non-profit advocacy organization. "Riding to work on this day shows the positive value of motorcycles and scooters for transportation. For many people, riding is an economical, efficient and socially responsible form of mobility that saves energy, helps the environment and provides a broad range of other public benefits," states Andy Goldfine, the event organizer. Motorcycle and scooter enthusiasts and rider organizations worldwide encourage their members to ride to work on this day.

According to the United States Census Bureau and the Department of Transportation, over eighty million cars and light trucks are used for daily commuting on American roads, and about 200,000 motorcycles and scooters are a regular part of this mix. On Ride To Work Day, the practical side of riding becomes more visible as a larger number of America's 8,000,000 cycles are ridden to work.

Ride to Work Day helps demonstrate how these vehicles make parking easier and help traffic flow better. Studies have shown that across equal distances, commuting motorcyclists reach their destinations in less time than those using automobiles, that motorcycles and scooters consume less resources per mile than automobiles, and that they take up less space on roads. Motorcycle and scooter riders seek improved employer recognition and support for this form of transportation, and more public and government awareness of the positive value of riding.

How about holding one in Adelaide and in other major centres?

Attack Kawasaki’s Davies and Rapp Finish 1-2 in a Surprising Daytona 200 On Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R's

Ashley Little - USA

Daytona Beach, Fla. (March 10, 2008) – Attack Kawasaki’s Chaz Davies and Steve Rapp made it a second consecutive one-two finish for the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R at the prestigious Daytona 200 at the Daytona International Speedway on Saturday. After originally finishing second and third, the team was awarded the top-two spots following a disqualification announcement by the AMA. In a rescheduled AMA Superbike race, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jamie Hacking earned fifth place, while teammate Roger Hayden finished eighth.

When the race ended Saturday afternoon, the Attack boys were sitting with an impressive second and third-place finish. At about 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time, the team was notified by the AMA that the race winner was disqualified. This put Davies and Rapp on the top two steps of the podium.

"I didn’t believe it at first," said Davies. "I thought Richard was joking but then I started getting more and more phone calls and I kind of started thinking it was true. Its still hard to accept since the other

team will most likely fight it, but once its official I think it will start settling in." Rapp was obviously excited to move up a spot to second-place, but he expressed that he is a racer and would have loved to have been able to race to that finish.

"It’s not exactly how I would want win or move up to a better spot," said Rapp. "I’m a racer and generally racers want to go out there to try and finish their very best. Of course I’m happy to finish second.

If we look past this race, it will definitely help us in the chase for the Championship."

For the second-straight year, Attack Kawasaki swept the top-two spots in the prestigious Daytona 200.

"I know our team is capable of this as we showed last year," said Team Manager Richard Stamboli. "This is obviously huge and shows we are just as talented and ready to win the championship this year

Quality and Reliability (MCN Feb 2008)

With the breeding and long-livedness it boasts all the way back to the GPX250 of the late 1980s, Kawasaki's new 250R Ninja should have little to worry about in terms of reliability. Quality is good too, ranging from the fit and finish to the level of equipment. If you want a decent, fun, easy going entry in to motorcycling, the new Kawasaki 250R Ninja comes pretty near the top.

998cc, 185.4 BHP, (137.50 KW)  186mph  ( 299.33 KPH)

200 ps (Metric HP) With Ram Air Engine Feed
New Kawasaki ZX-10R Ninja scores an easy five out of five; it surely must be the fastest production 1000cc bike of the current crop. But this ZX-10R is not all about Kawasaki’s new blistering engine and head-banging attitude, it’s controllable and handles much better than the previous ZX-10R Ninja and despite the blistering pace is actually easier to ride. Not for the faint hearted, the new ZX-10R Ninja is a true superbike for the road...

Kawasaki was the first manufacturer to fit a back torque limiter or slipper clutch, and it’s the same again for the new ZX-10R Ninja. There’s also radial brakes, petal discs, fully adjustable suspension front and rear and an Ohlins steering damper as standard.

Also, don’t forget Kawasaki new Kawasaki Ignition Management system, which is designed to reduce wheel spin under extreme circumstances.

The new Kawasaki ZX-10R Ninja is competitively priced, looks the part and on first impressions from the launch looks like its going to be the fastest 1000cc sports motorcycle out there. So if you want the fastest you are going to have to pay the price.

Remember, this was done on a bike that meets harsh Euro 3 emissions regulations.

Record Run  ZX14 Ninja ~ Record Run ZX14 Ninja ~ Record Run ZX14 Ninja ~ Record Run ZX14 Ninja

Press Release Issued By Monster Energy Kawasaki (March 5, 2008)

Valdosta, Ga. (March 3, 2008) – Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Rickey Gadson set the lowest elapsed time record in the Super Street class as he made his return to the finals at the South Georgia Motorsports Park. His record run of 7.93 seconds was made during the second round. Gadson also entered Sunday’s race as the top-qualifier from Saturday’s session.

Monster Energy Kawasaki Under the Tent

New Record The talk of the pits was the impressive record that Gadson set during the second round of eliminations on Sunday. Gadson was fired up and ready when he heard that another racer had set a record just before he was to take the strip.

“The bike just got finished on Wednesday and we only had about 12 or 13 runs total on the weekend,” said Gadson. “The people we are racing against have gotten a lot of testing done in comparison so to come out and set the new record is pretty good in my eyes.”

If you imagine (And if you have ever witnessed a sanctioned drag meeting) a stock (Out of the crate and showroom floor) motorcycle being able to rocket from zero to 238 Kilometres per hour in 366 metres it is truly awesome and mind blowing, however as a reminder, Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI)  is manufacturing and been part of some of fastest trains, aircraft and motorcycles for many, many decades.
